Pelosi hospitalised after sustaining injury

KABUL (Pajhwok): Ex- US House speaker Nancy Pelosi has been hospitalised after suffering a wound during an official trip to Luxembourg.

Pelosi was admitted to hospital after she sustained injuries to her hip, US media outlets reported, saying she tripped and fell at an event.

In a statement on Friday, her spokesperson Ian Krager said the 84-year-old former speaker was currently receiving treatment from doctors and medical professionals.

Still representing California in the US House, she was part of a Congressional delegation visiting Luxembourg to mark the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge.

The congresswoman, a renowned US politician, first served as speaker from 2007 to 2011 -- a slot she regained in 2019.

The delegation will attend anniversary events along with veterans, their families and military officials. However, Pelosi will not be able to participate further in the events.
