Thailand launches e-visa service for Afghanistan

PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): The government of Thailand has announced the launch of an e-visa service for Afghan an Pakistani nationals.

The embassy of Thailand in Islamabad said citizens of numerous countries, including Afghanistan, should to apply for a visit visa to travel to Thailand for tourism.

Because of its rich history, stunning beaches and vibrant culture, Thailand is a major travel destination for tourists from around the globe.

In an official proclamation, the embassy said the new online e-visa platform would be effective from January 1, 2025.

“A foreign national who is currently in Pakistan and Afghanistan and wishes to apply for a Thai visa can submit his/her application through the new online e-visa platform,” it added.

Applicants are no longer required to submit passports and original supporting documents in person at the Thai Embassy in Islamabad.

Since an online payment facility is not available currently, payments have to be made at the Thai Embassy in Islamabad.

At the same time, the embassy explained, it would continue to accept in-person visa applications until December 24.
