Volleyball tournament concludes in Bamyan

KABUL (Pajhwok): A volleyball tournament, featuring 11 teams, concluded in central Bamyan province on Saturday, with Yakawlang-2 district team winning the title, an official announced.

Rajab Ali Fitrat, an official of General Directorate of Physical Training and Sports, told Pajhwok Afghan News the tournament titled “Khazani Cup”  commenced on November 30 and concluded today (Saturday).

He said Yakawlang-2 district team won the tournament title and Staragan team finished runners-up.

He added the tournament was aimed to lure youth towards sports and promote the game in the province.

On the other hand, volleyball players also voiced satisfaction over the organization of the event.

Dost Mohammad, a player, said sports could bring more unity among the youth.

He urged the concerned directorate to organise more such tournaments in order to attract youth’s interest to sports and prevent them from drugs.
