KABUL (Pajhwok): Six development projects have been executed at a cost of more than 47 million afghanis at the University of Uruzgan, an official announced on Tuesday.
University Chancellor Rahmatullah Rahmani told the inaugural ceremony work on the projects had been initiated six months ago and completed today (Tuesday).
He said the projects included a general meeting hall, installation of a solar power system, a clean water supply network, a computer lab and a parking lot.
“Funded by the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE), the schemes accounted for more than 47 million afs,” the chancellor explained.
He also announced construction work kicked off on the boundary wall of the university today.
He added the university was still facing a shortage of teaching blocs and hoped the problem would be addressed.
Meanwhile, Governor Maulvi Inayatullah Shuja voiced satisfaction with execution of the schemes.
He alleged: “No attention had been paid to development projects over the decades in Uruzgan province.”
However, he said the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) was determined to implement development projects across the country.
Meanwhile, students of the varsity are happy with the completion of the projects.
Habib Rahman, a student of the Education Faculty, said they lacked access to clean drinking water and a computer lab for practical studies..
