KABUL (Pajhwok): Some Afghan politicians, including Former Presidents Hamid Karzai and Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, have condoled the deaths and injuries of the last night's traffic accidents and expressed sympathies with the families of the victims.
At least 50 people, including women and children, have been killed and 70 others wounded in two separate traffic accidents in southern Ghazni province.
Former President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on his X.com wrote: “It is with deep sorrow that I heard the sad news of the martyrdom and injury of dozens of my countrymen and women on the Kabul-Kandahar highway in two separate incidents. I extend my heartfelt condolences to the families of the martyrs and ask the Almighty God for forgiveness for their loved ones who have unintentionally become victims of the continuous traffic accidents on this highway. We also pray for the speedy recovery of those country men and women who were injured and who may have suffered even more in this cold winter weather.”
Former President Hamid Karzai also expressed regretted the incident and extended heartfelt condolences to the families of victims.
Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, former head of the High Council for National Reconciliation, on hi X.com wrote: “I offer my condolences to the families of the victims of this incident and wish a speedy recovery to the injured; unfortunately, due to the carelessness of drivers, passengers on this road face such accidents from time to time; I hope that the relevant authorities and companies will take fundamental measures to prevent such accidents from happening again.”
Ziaulhaq Amarkhel, former minister of parlimanety affairs, on his X.com wrote: “The deadly traffic accident in Ghazni is heartbreaking; may God forgive the martyrs and grant health to the injured, in any case there is need for the establishment of a system enforces caution, because the carelessness of a driver can cause grief to many families, we urge the relevant authorities to take this matter very seriously.”
The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) has expressed its deep sorrow over the tragic traffic accidents in southern Ghazni province and has instructed the relevant authorities to conduct a thorough investigation.
