KABUL (Pajhwok): The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) has expressed its deep sorrow over the tragic traffic accidents in southern Ghazni province and has instructed the relevant authorities to conduct a thorough investigation.
Local officials reported that at least 44 people were killed and 76 others injured in two separate traffic accidents that occurred on Wednesday night along the Kabul-Kandahar highway and in Andar district.
Zabihullah Mujahid, the IEA’s chief spokesman, said on his X (formerly Twitter) account that 52 people had lost their lives and 65 others were injured in the collisions.
He added: "These tragic events have deeply saddened us. May Allah grant Jannat al-Firdous (paradise) to all the martyrs, grant a speedy recovery to the injured, and offer our heartfelt condolences to the affected families."
Mujahid also confirmed that the relevant authorities have been directed to investigate both accidents promptly, determine the exact causes, and take necessary measures to prevent such tragedies from recurring.
