Suspected killer of local representative detained in Jawzjan

SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): Security forces have arrested a suspect in connection with the murder of a local representative in the Khanaqa district of northern Jawzjan province, an official said on Friday.

Police spokesman Qari Abdul Sattar Halimi told Pajhwok Afghan News that unidentified gunmen shot and killed 44-year-old Hamidullah in Aqcha district on Thursday evening.

Hamidullah was serving as a local representative for the Qalchabad area of Khanaqa district.

Following the killing, the gunmen fled the scene. However, security forces managed to identify and arrest one suspect early this morning in connection with the murder.

Halimi says that the motive behind the murder has yet to be determined, but investigations are ongoing.
