FAIZABAD (Pajhwok): Nearly 300 greenhouses have been built in 16 districts of northeastern Badakhshan province during the ongoing year, an official said on Sunday.
Qari Ehsanullah Seraji, Deputy Head of the Agricultural Department, told Pajhwok Afghan News that these greenhouses were built with the purpose of improving the economy of families and improving people’s access to vegetables.
He added that these greenhouses were established in the districts of Arghanjkhah, Jurm, Warduj, Tagab, Kiran and Manjan, Ishkashim, Zibak, Wakhan, Shoghnan, Mayimi, Shahr-e-Bozorg, Faizabad, Shuhada, Yaftal Payan, Kashim and Baharak in cooperation with NGOs.
He said that the construction of greenhouses could ensure the economic welfare of families and also reduce the price of vegetables in the market, and people would have access to vegetables in the winter season.
Meanwhile, the residents of Badakhshan are happy with the establishment of these greenhouses.
Zohorullah, a resident of Badakhshan, while welcoming the establishment of the greenhouses by the Department of Agriculture, said that the establishment of these greenhouses has made it easier for people to access vegetables.
He asked the Department of Agriculture to implement more agricultural projects in the province to promote agricultural growth.
