KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan has welcomed the decision of Saudi Arabia’s embassy in Kabul to resume its activities, saying the move would further enhance relations between Kabul and Riyadh.
On Sunday, Saudi Arabia announced the resumption of activities at its embassy in Kabul, more than three years after withdrawing its diplomats.
"Based on the desire of the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to provide all services to the brotherly Afghan people, it has been decided to resume the activities of the mission of the Kingdom in Kabul starting on December 22," the embassy posted on social media site X.
In a voice message, MoFA deputy spokesman Hafiz Zia Ahmad Takal welcomed the resumption of operations by the Saudi embassy in Kabul.
Takal assured that MoFA will be cooperative in all affairs and pay special attention to the safety of the diplomatic mission.
“This development will help in enhancing relations and cooperation between Kabul and Riyadh and solve problems and provide facilities to Afghan nationals who live in Saudi Arabia on time”, Takal added.
Before this, a number of other countries had reopened their diplomatic missions in Kabul.
