KABUL (Pajhwok): Presidents of Russia and Tajikistan are set to meet today (Tuesday) on issues of common interest, including the situation in Afghanistan.
President Vladimir Putin has arrived in St. Petersburg for meetings with Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) leaders, says a media report.
Ahead of the main event scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, Putin is due to meet Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon today, according to TASS.
Apart from regional issues, including the situation in Afghanistan, they will confer on cooperation in political, trade, military and humanitarian spheres.
At the CIS summit, Putin will share the results of Russia's chairmanship of the CIS in 2024. The participants will exchange views on current international issues.
At the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) summit, slated for Thursday, several important documents will be signed, including a decision on granting Iran the status of an observer state.
