KABUL (Pajhwok): Azerbaijan’s Ambassador in Kabul Ilham Mammadov has expressed his country’s willingness to expand political engagement with Afghanistan.
He expressed the desire at a meeting with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Sher Mohammad Abbas Stanikzai here, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) wrote on its X handle.
Stanikzai extended his condolences to the ambassador over the recent crash of an Azerbaijani passenger plane in Kazakhstan.
He reiterated the caretaker government’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations in political, economic and social spheres between Kabul and Baku.
For his part, Ilham Mammadov appreciated the condolence message from the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA), describing it as a profound demonstration of solidarity and brotherhood between the two nations.
He added his country was keen on expanding political engagement with Afghanistan.
The ambassador also expressed his country’s readiness for cooperation in economic sector and compressive welfare.
He also emphasised the significance of strengthening bilateral relations for both countries.
