KUNDUZ (Pajhwok): More than 74,000 doses of vaccines will be administered to household animals during a campaign launched on Monday in northern Kunduz province, officials said.
The vaccine will be administered to cattle in Khanabad and Chahardara districts of the province.
Salahuddin Wahidi, provincial agriculture, livestock and irrigation director said: “Over 74,500 doses of Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD), Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD) and Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR) vaccines will be administered to cattle in the mentioned districts”.
The vaccination drive is financially supported by Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Wahidi said.
livestock owners appreciated the program and said it would prevent many dangerous veterinary illnesses.
A cattle owner, Jamuluddin, said: “It is good to administer this vaccine to animals to prevent their illnesses.”
Mohammad Alim, another one, said: “We could not afford vaccine for our cattle, we have many economic problems, we want this program to be extended.”
A number other cattle owners also asked for some other viral and skin diseases’ vaccines across Kunduz province.
