Ghazni gets 34 new telecommunication sites

GHAZNI (Pajhwok): Thirty-four more telecommunication sites would be established in southern Ghazni province to address telecommunication related issues, an official said on Tuesday.

Mawlavi Najeebullah Hayat Haqqani, acting Minister of Communication and Information Technology, announced the opening of new telecommunication sites here and said the contracts had been processed and practical work would start soon.

He said efforts were underway to provide best telecommunication and internet services to the people.

He said in order to address the telecommunication issues of travelers, the construction of three telecommunication sites on Ghazni-Zabul road had been considered.

Mawlavi Tayyib Ahmad, head of the provincial Telecommunication and Information Technology, said 13 sites would be built in Ghazni City, 18 in districts and the remaining three on the Kabul-Ghazni highway in the limits of Ghazni province.

He said: “Services are weak due to technical problems with telecommunications networks in the center and districts, but with the construction of new sites, problems will be largely reduced, and better internet and communication services will be provided.”

On the other hand, residents are happy about the construction of new telecommunication sites in the province.

Mohammad Nabi, a resident of Ghazni, province said that currently telecommunication services were vital for business and relationships.

He said currently internet and telecommunication issues are grave in Ghazni but with the construction of new sites the problems would be addressed.

This come that currently, four private and one government telecommunication companies are operating but still in some areas people are deprived of telecommunication services.
