54 Afghan citizens released from Pakistani prisons

KABUL (Pajhwok): About 54 Afghan nationals have been released from jails in Pakistan, the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation (MoRR) said on Thursday.

In a statement, MoRR said the 54 individuals were freed from different prisons after spending three to 20 days, following efforts by Afghan officials.

“These Afghans had been detained for lack of legal residency documents,” it said. They returned home through Torkham and Spin Boldak crossings.

The returning Afghans were introduced to the International Organization for Migration (IOM) for assistance, the ministry concluded.
