GARDEZ (Pajhwok): Free computer programme, mathematics and other subjects’ tuitions for 700 students has been started in Gardez, the capital of southeastern Paktia province and districts, an official said on Monday.
Mawlavi Sawab Jan Islmayar, head of the Cultural and Information Department, said more similar programmes would be launched for the students and the number of students would be promoted to 1,500 in the future.
He said: “These are our department's winter courses that teach computer, English, science, and religious studies, up to a hundred students come to study here at the department, and we have signed agreements with other educational institutions and provide free education.”
On the other hand some youths have been thrilled about the free education programme.
Shafiqullah, one of the students, said: “We have problem in math and some other programmes, now we have been provided the opportunity to improve our selves.”
Iqbal Shah, another student said these types of tuitions were beneficial for the students who are economically not sound.
He said such programmes should be orgnaised regularly in the districts and remote areas.
It is pertinent to mention that such programmes have been launched in some other provinces.
