SAR-I-PUL (Pajhwok): As many as 23 school buildings have been reconstructed during the past ten months in northern Sar-i-Pul province, officials said on Tuesday.
Maulvi Habibullah Masroor, the governor spokesperson, told Pajhwok Afghan News the buildings of 14 schools and other educational centres were reconstructed at the cost of over 8.3 million Afs provided by the Ministry of Education (MoE), in the past one year.
In addition, nine other school-buildings were reconstructed at the cost of $125,000 provided by the Save the Children International organization.
Furthermore, at the cost of over 2.7 million Afs 15 other school-buildings and greenhouses were built by another organization.
With the construction and reconstruction of these school-buildings, more students could enjoy necessary and safe educational environment at their schools while some other schools still needed to be reconstructed, Masroor clarified.
While hailing this development, a teacher in Sar-i-Pul province Hafizullah believed the construction and reconstruction of school-buildings has direct impact on the quality of education and it can encourage children to study.
This development convey the message of education’s value in this community and further encourages people to study, he added.
Dost Mohammad, one of the students expressed his pleasure about his school being built and said: “I am happy about the reconstruction of my school-building, now our school is new and clean.”
Before all of the doors and windows of our school were broken, walls cracked or partially destroyed, now all of such problems were resolved, he said.
According to the official figure of provincial education directorate, there are 411 schools in Sar-i-Pul, 100 of them lack buildings and the number of male and female students in this province reaches to 180,914.
