KABUL (Pajhwok): The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) says 5.8 million people in Afghanistan will require emergency shelter and non-food items in 2025.
UNOCHA wrote on its X handle: “In 2025, 5.8M ppl need emergency shelter & non-food items, including those living in informal settlements, flood-affected families & returnees.”
It added humanitarian partners would prioritise 1.1 million people in response, requiring $179 million to provide emergency relief, winter supplies and shelter.
Earlier, United Nations Special Trust Fund for Afghanistan (UN-STFA) announced Luxembourg had contributed $1.56 million in humanitarian aid to Afghanistan.
Recently, the UN said it had received approximately $859 million in aid for Afghanistan in 2024, and over $2 billion more was needed.
