Sar-i-Pul residents donate land, 19m afs to MoE

SAR-I-PUL CITY (Pajhwok): Residents of northern Sar-i-Pul province have donated more than 5.5 acres of land to the Ministry of Education and contributed nearly 19 million afghanis for construction of school buildings during the past 10 months.

Governor spokesman Maulvi Habibullah Masror told Pajhwok Afghan News the residents had donated more than 5.5 acres of land and nearly 19 million afghanis for construction of buildings for educational centers.

Education Support Councils also spent more than 1,236,000 afghani on school grounds, digging drinking water wells, building entrance gates, and purchasing other school supplies, Masror added.

He emphasized that people’s cooperation showed their trust on the education services in the province.

Mohammad Sarwari, a culturist, explained donating land and money to education was people’s awareness about the importance of science and knowledge. “Progress and prosperity are only possible through education and people support education”.

According to Sarwari, security and stability in the country has given people peace of mind, and they are now sending their children to schools.

Abdullah Ahmadi, another culturist, expressed his satisfaction that people were providing their land to education for free.

He emphasized that people’s support for education increases the level of literacy in society and contributes to the country’s growth and progress.

The Islamic Emirate should exploit this opportunity for the development and progress of the country, he said.

Earlier, Sar-i-Pul residents had donated land for education in previous years.
