Kabul, Tehran discuss removal of trade barriers

KABUL (Pajhwok): Kabul and Tehran have discussed various issues, including connecting the Chabahar port to the railway network to enhance bilateral trade and expand economic ties.

Acting Minister of Commerce and Industry Nooruddin Azizi met Alireza Bigdeli, Iran’s new ambassador in Kabul, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) wrote on its X handle.

It said increasing trade exchanges, expanding economic and commercial relations, reducing transit costs, connecting Chabahar to railroads came up for discussion.

The ministry added the two sides also emphasised on removing barriers to enhance trade between the two neighbouring countries.

Separately, Azizi met Kazintasou Andreu, Deputy Minister of Industries of the Republic of Belarus.

Kazintasou Andreu stressed the need to develop economic relations between Afghanistan and Belarus, calling for an increase in trade exchanges.

They agreed to organise joint exhibitions, conferences and meetings between government delegations and private sectors to develop trade and economic relations.
