KABUL (Pajhwok): Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Maulvi Sher Mohammad Abbas Stanikzai and his Belarusian counterpart have discussed economic and political commonalities between Kabul and Minsk.
Stanikzai met Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Belarus, Luka Shchavich, in Kabul on Sunday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said.
A statement from the ministry said shared economic and political interests, as well as opportunities for mutual cooperation between Afghanistan and Belarus came up for discussion.
Calling the visit of his Belarusian counterpart to Kabul a crucial step forward towards strengthening bilateral relations, Stanikzai said it was a good beginning for fostering long-term cooperation.
Shchavich expressed his government’s positive intention to establishing cooperation with Afghanistan across various sectors.
Both sides agreed to continue discussions through technical teams based in Kabul and Minsk to further enhance areas of cooperation.
