HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): A general cleanliness drive was conducted to remove waste from Pashtan dam area in western Herat province in cooperation with the Environmental Protection and Physical Training and Sports Department , an official announced on Monday.
Maulvi Abdul Ali Muttaqi, head of the environmental protection department, described the initiative as a significant step towards environmental preservation.
He urged citizens not to throw away their waste in the Pashtan Dam area.
He explained: “Protecting this national asset and keeping nature clean is the responsibility of every individual in the country.”
Meanwhile, Sharif Ahmad Safa, the head of Herat's Mountaineering Federation, said all citizens should actively participate in cleaning the city and its surroundings.
On the other hand, some visitors to the Pashtan Dam emphasized the need for more awareness campaigns to educate visitors about recreational areas and natural sites to prevent environmental pollution.
Earlier, the Environmental Protection Department had cleaned the Chelah-Khana area and surrounding mountains to promote and institutionalize the valuable culture of environmental preservation.
