KABUL (Pajhwok): The volume of trade between Iran and Afghanistan reached $3.19 billion last year showing an increase of 84 percent compared to the previous year, an official has said.

Fars News Agency reported that Hossein Roustaei, Iran's trade advisor in Afghanistan, announced that the volume of trade between the two countries reached $3.19 billion in 2024, an increase of 84 percent compared to 2023.

He added that Afghanistan's imports from Iran reached $3.143 billion in 2024, an increase of more than 83 percent compared to $1.714 billion in 2023.

Rustaati also said that the value of Afghanistan's exports to Iran in 2024 was $54 million, which represented an increase of $29 million, or 116 percent, compared to the previous year.

He said that this significant increase in trade relations between the two countries indicated the strengthening of economic and trade cooperation in the region and can contribute to the economic growth of both countries.
