7-year long feud leveled to peace in Herat

HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): A seven-year long feud between two families in western Herat province has been leveled to peace.

The enmity which claimed the life to two persons in Kushk-i-Kuhna district of the province was resolved by the mediation of tribal leaders and local officials.

Referring to the verses of Holy Quran and Hadiths of the prophet, provincial Vice and Virtue director Sheikh Azizur Rahman Al Muhajir urged the people to be united and keep their solidarity as their priority.

Provincial Culture and Information director Maulvi Ahmadullah Muttaqi said, after the takeover by Islamic Emirate, the number of hostilities and tribal differences among the people have decreased significantly.

The Islamic Emirate tried to resolve the tribal differences, put an end to enmities and racisms among the people, Muttaqi added.

The members of the involved families in the feud had also hailed the efforts made by the officials of Borders and Tribal Affairs department and said two people from the hostile families had lost their lives.

Qari Sultan Mohammad, a member of the hostile families told Pajhwok Afghan News, through the mediation of local officials and the efforts of influential ethnic figures, the two families were finally were given the opportunity to make peace with the other side.

Mohammad said: “The enmity broke out seven years ago and I lost my father and another one from the other family.”

He expressed his pleasure about the reconciliation and said such following enmity is in the favour of no side, it is better to have good aims for the upcoming generations.

The influential figures and other tribal leaders hailed the efforts made by local officials and underlined the importance of peace and stability among the people of Herat.

The officials of Borders and Tribal Affairs in Herat succeeded to put an end to such eight feuds among the people during the past two months.
