KABUL (Pajhwok): Acting Minister of Commerce and Industry Nooruddin Azizi and UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative Roza Otunbayeva have discussed various issues, including the establishment of a business centre.
At a meeting here on Tuesday; the two sides also conferred on the inauguration of an online trade centre to support the private sector, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) said.
A statement from the ministry said setting up a business centre, provision of electricity for industrial parks and addressing the challenges faced by the private sector came up for discussion.
Roza Otunbayeva, who also heads UNAM, briefed the minister on the Doha Group's three private-sector working groups and appreciated efforts of MoCI.
The top UN diplomat congratulated the ministry on successfully organising the conference titled Call for Investment in Afghanistan.
She urged the ministry to organise such conferences in the five zones of Afghanistan.
The ministry said the purpose of the meeting was to strengthen joint cooperation with the private sector and promote Afghanistan’s economic development.
