66 Afghans freed from Pakistani jails, return home

KABUL (Pajhwok): At least 66 Afghan nationals have been released from Pakistani jails and returned to Afghanistan, the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation (MoRR) announced on Saturday.

In a statement on X, the ministry said these individuals, who had spent between three days to one month in various prisons, were freed through the efforts of Afghan officials.

“These Afghans were detained due to the lack of legal residency documents,” the ministry stated. They returned home via the Torkham crossing.

The returning citizens were referred to aid agencies for assistance, the ministry added.

This follows the release of 38 Afghans from Pakistani jails on Tuesday, where authorities have been detaining and harassing migrants.
