Iranian FM Araghchi arrives in Kabul for talks

KABUL (Pajhwok): Iranian Foreign Minister Sayed Abbas Araghchi on Sunday arrived in Kabul at the head of a delegation.

The Iranian Embassy in Kabul wrote on its X handle that Araghchi arrived to Kabul leading a political and economic delegation.

Hafiz Zia Ahmad Takal, deputy spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, also confirmed Araghchi's arrival.

He says that Araghchi is set to meet with his Afghan counterpart, Maulvi Amir Khan Muttaqi.

Earlier in the morning, Ismail Baghaei, spokesman for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, shared on X: “We are heading to Kabul. Dr. Araghchi’s visit is part of our neighborhood policy and aligns with the Foreign Ministry’s core mission of safeguarding our national interests through engagement and addressing shared concerns.

Baghaei also emphasized that the visit could mark a turning point in strengthening the extensive ties between the two nations and ensuring mutual benefits for both countries.
