KABUL (Pajhwok): Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has won another term in office, bagging 86.82 percent of votes.
"You can congratulate the Republic of Belarus, we have elected a president," said Central Election Commission Chairman Igor Karpenko.
Russia’s TASS news agency, citing preliminary results, reported Liberal Democratic Party Chairman Oleg Gaidukevich won 2.02 percent of the ballots.
Anna Kanopatskaya polled 1.86 percent of the votes, Central Committee of the Belarusian Communist Party Secretary Sergey Syrankov 3.21 percent and Republican Party of Labor and Justice Chairman Alexander Khizhnyak 1.74 percent.
In the 2020 presidential election, Lukashenko had won a landslide by garnering more than 80 percent of votes.
The final outcome is scheduled to be unveiled on February 3.
