KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) has rejected as groundless reports about an agreement with Pakistan on scholarships for Afghan girl students.
In a statement on its X account, the ministry clarified recent reports suggesting a conditional agreement with Pakistan on scholarships for Afghan girls were unfounded.
MoHE explained it had no reached agreements regarding scholarships for Afghan girls with any country, including Pakistan.
It said if such scholarships were being offered to former Afghan refugees abroad, the matter had not been coordinated with any institution of the caretaker government.
The ministry described these claims as sheer propaganda spread by certain malicious groups to undermine the Islamic Emirate.
Pakistan has announced 4,500 scholarships under the "Allama Iqbal Scholarship" programme for Afghan students, with 33 percent reserved for girls.
As part of the initiative, the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan conducted entrance tests in Peshawar and Quetta last week to select up to 2,000 Afghan students, one-third of them female.
