1,500 impoverished Daikundi youth receive free education

NEILI (Pajhwok): The Information and Culture department in central Daikundi province says free educational programs have been provided for over 1,500 impoverished youth in linguistic, computer and public speaking skills.

This program, which aims to support impoverished youth and increase educational opportunities, has received widespread support and has raised hopes for its expansion to remote areas.

Ali Jan Mirhazar, head of youth affairs at the Department of Information and Culture in Daykundi, told Pajhwok Afghan News that this department organized educational courses throughout the year, offering opportunities to over 1,500 young people to learn English, Pashto, as well as computer skills and public speaking.

He added that 1,200 of these youth have completed the courses, while 300 others are still in the process of learning.

He explained that this program is mainly intended for young people who are unable to attend private educational centers due to economic difficulties.

According to him, these courses have been held in multiple sessions, and adequate resources have been provided for students to learn effectively.

The head of youth affairs at the Department of Information and Culture also said that the department is working to expand these programs to districts and remote areas in cooperation with other departments and partner organizations.

He emphasized that capacity-building for youth plays a crucial role in societal progress and that it is necessary to support youth in all areas.

He added that, despite the abundant talents among the youth in Daikundi, the lack of educational opportunities is one of the major challenges in the province, and responsible organizations should prioritize supporting youth education in their programs.

The youth enrolled in these courses have welcomed the free educational programs, seeing them as a sign of the government’s commitment to education and learning.

Rahmatullah Rahimi Nezhad, one of the youth from Daikundi, said, "Most young people in this province have a strong desire for education, but they do not have the financial means to attend private courses. The free educational programs offered by the Department of Information and Culture have given us the opportunity to learn."

He added that specialized and professional education was one of the fundamental needs of today's society and should be further strengthened.

Zia, another beneficiary of the program, said that the launch of such programs increases the hope for a better future.

He said, "A few years ago, I finished school, our economic situation was very bad, and I couldn’t attend university. I took an English course for a while but couldn't afford the fees, so I had to quit. This year, when I heard about this free program, I came and now I’m studying here, it’s been very good."

He emphasized that skilled instructors are teaching them and the quality of the lessons is outstanding.

Zia said those who cannot afford education are often the most eager to learn, but due to economic difficulties, they frequently miss out on opportunities.

He urged the government to provide more such educational opportunities for youth.
