Herat reaches self-sufficiency in paint production

HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Local officials in Herat say the western province has reached self-sufficiency in paint production.

During a visit to the country’s largest paint manufacturing factory in industrial park of Herat, Commerce and Industry Director Maulvi Bashir Mohammad Seerat said the province was now self-sufficient in producing various types of oil-based, plastic and powder paints.

During a visit to the country’s largest paint manufacturing factory, located in the industrial park of Herat, Mawlawi Basheer Mohammad Seerat, head of the Herat Department of Industry and Trade, stated that Herat is now self-sufficient in producing various types of paints.

He welcomed the activities of this factory and emphasized  support for domestic industries, and highlighted that increasing national production plays a crucial role in economic growth and job creation for citizens.

Meanwhile, officials from this factory say they produce high quality paints.

Jamshid Faizi, head of Afghan Faizi Paint Factory, told the media that the factory produces up to 50 tonnes of paint daily, meeting the domestic demand with high-quality products.

Referring to over a decade of the factory’s operations, he added that they aim to manufacture standard-quality paints to reduce the import of foreign paints.

Faizi stated that all raw materials required for production, from the initial to the final stage, are manufactured and processed within Herat's industrial park.

He added the factory has provided employment for 400 people and produces 70 different types of paint, supplying its products to all provinces of the country.

As many as 60 paint manufacturing factories are operating in the country; five of them are operational in Herat province.
