JALALABAD (Pajhwok): About 123 people, including eight women, were released from the central jail in eastern Nangarhar province and reunited with their families, an official said on Tuesday.
Officials said these individuals were released under a special decree of the Islamic Emirate leadership on Monday and prison terms of some others were reduced.
At a ceremony in this regard, Head of Prisons Reform Department Sohail Syed said 123 prisoners were freed in accordance with a special decree from Islamic Emirate.
“These individuals included 99 men, eight women and 16 children who had been arrested for different crimes and 89 other prisoners got their jail terms reduced”: he added.
On the other hand, the released prisoners explained they were treated well by prison guards during their time in prison.
Navid, was sentenced to one year in prison in a money laundering case, has been released after six months.
According to him, he lived in prison as an educational center and was provided with different educational opportunities.
The released prisoners asked the people to remember that prison life is hard and try to adjust their lives in the light of the law.
