Key Bamyan roads reopen after 24 hours of closure

BAMYAN CITY (Pajhwok): All key routes in central Bamyan province were reopened on Tuesday, 24 hours after they were blocked by heavy snowfall and storms, local officials said.

Public Works Director Eng. Hafizullah Niamati told Pajhwok Afghan News roads linking Bamyan City to neighbouring provinces and districts, closed yesterday by snowfall and storms, had been reopened.

He said the roads leading to Kabul via Hajigak and Shibar Pass, Daikundi, the Yakawlang-Punjab, Waras-Behsud and Aq Rabat-Bamyan City roads had been reopened for traffic.

But the Punjab-Band-e-Shoy road, connecting Bamyan to Maidan Wardak province via Behsud district, remains closed due to snowfall.

Niamati assured his department was making hectic efforts to reopen the route for traffic by the afternoon
