KABUL (Pajhwok): Lead and zinc mines exploration contract in the Yaka Walang district of central Maidan Wardak province worth of over 83 million afs has been signed, an official said on Wednesday.
Humayon Afghan, spokesperson for the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum (MoMP), on his social media handle wrote the exploration contract was signed between the acting Mining Minister Mullah Hidayatullah Badri and Head of the Baloch Mohammad Aziz Company.
The source said that the mine is starched on an area of 5,386,830 square kilometers and that the company would invest 83,875,000 afs in this project.
The contract for this mine has been signed for a period of five years, subject to the company working and operating in accordance with the principles, procedures of the mines and its obligations. It will be extended for a second time after the completion of the specified period. Also, according to the obligations and agreements with the contracted companies, 100% processing will be carried out within the country.
This comes while the Afghan Ministry of Mines and Petroleum yesterday signed a contract for the extraction, processing and exploration of the "Dara-e-Noor" marble mine in Kandahar province with a Turkish company worth 6.2 million US dollars.
