KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghan Red Crescent Society (ARCS) chief Shahabuddin Delawar, has urged international humanitarian organizations to support the Afghan people who have recently emerged from insecurity.
According to an ARCS statement, Delawar made these remarks during a meeting with Pierre Krähenbühl, head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Katrina Ritz, head of the ICRC in Afghanistan, and their accompanying delegation.
Delawar explained: "Afghans have recently overcome hardships and insecurity, and now is the best time for international charitable organizations to support them."
He assured that ARCS transparently distributed aid from supporting organizations to those in need without any discrimination.
Additionally, he expressed hope that the delegation would enhance humanitarian support for Afghans.
The ICRC chief also acknowledged that Afghans had gone through significant hardships throughout history and emphasized that assisting them was both a responsibility and a duty of the ICRC.
He reaffirmed the ICRC’s commitment to continuing and expanding mutual cooperation between both organizations, assuring that they would sustain their support and joint efforts with the Afghan Red Crescent Society.
