Al-Qaeda member killed in Syria strike, says US

KABUL (Pajhwok): The US military says it has killed a member of an Al-Qaeda affiliate in a precision airstrike in Syria.

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) conducted the strike Saturday "in Northwest Syria targeting and killing a senior finance and logistics official in the organisation Hurras al-Din (HaD), an al-Qaida affiliate.

CENTCOM did not provide further details about the strike. The US designated Hurras al-Din as a "terrorist" organisation in 2019 and has offered financial rewards for information on several of its members.
