KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Refugee and Repatriation (MoRR) has inked a cooperation agreement worth over 1.156 million US dollars with Danish Refugee Council (DRC) for supporting displaced and returning families.
The agreement was signed between Deputy Minister of Refugees and Repatriation Maulvi Abdul Rahman Rashid and DRC Country Director Dania Al-Sharif here today (Monday), MoRR said.
Under the agreement, DRC will distribute $1,156,446 in cash assistance for economic stability and growth in Kabul, Kandahar, Parwan, Zabul, Ghazni, Maidan Wardak, Kapisa, Herat, Badghis, Farah and Kunar provinces.
A statement from the ministry said the initiative was aimed to support 298,556 displaced and returning Afghans with financial aid to help rebuild their lives.
At the signing ceremony, Maulvi Abdul Rahman Rashid urged DRC to reduce administrative costs and allocate more resources to direct assistance projects for refugees.
Dania Al-Sharif assured all projects would be implemented in coordination with Afghan government agencies.
She reaffirmed DRC's commitment to assisting Afghan refugees and preventing forced migration.
She also pledged to reduce administrative costs and enhance humanitarian support to displaced families in the future.
