KABUL (Pajhwok): International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) chief Pierre Krähenbühl, has reaffirmed his organisation’s commitment to continued assistance to Afghanistan's Prisons Correctional Administration (APCA).
He renewed the ICRC pledge at a meeting with Director General of Prisons Reform Maulvi Mohammad Yusuf Mestri here on Monday.
APCA said in a statement the two sides discussed enhanced coordination, joint cooperation, technical assistance and capacity-building programmes for APRA employees.
Maulvi Mestri expressed gratitude for ICRC assistance and urged support and cooperation from other national and international humanitarian organisations.
Pierre Krähenbühl appreciated cooperation from the prison administration, especially in ensuring the transparent delivery and distribution of aid to inmates.
He reaffirmed ICRC’s commitment to continued collaboration with the prison administration.
Earlier, Minister of Foreign Affairs Maulvi Amir Khan Muttaqi had urged ICRC to assist in determining the fate of Afghan prisoners geld in different countries.
