China should provide medicines for infectious disease: Jalali

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Acting Minister of Public Health has urged China’s cooperation in provision of equipment, medicines and vaccines to hospitals in Afghanistan to address infectious diseases.

In a statement, MoPH said Acting Minister Maulvi Noor Jalal Jalali met with Chinese Ambassador to Kabul Zhao Xing.

At this meeting, Jalali and Zhao Xing discussed bilateral relations and continued cooperation in the health sector, the statement added.

According to MoPH, Jalali called continued relations between Afghanistan and China essential and requested the Chinese ambassador for more cooperation in the areas of renovating the Mirwais Regional Hospital building in Kandahar, expanding services, building the capacity of Afghan health workers in traditional medicine and radiology, and providing equipment, medicines, and vaccines to address infectious disease cases.

It said the Chinese ambassador to Kabul pledged his country’s continued cooperation and expressed confidence in the reconstruction of the Mirwais Regional Hospital, capacity building of health workers, traditional medicine, and medical equipment.
