3 killed, 13 wounded in Ghazni, Nangarhar accidents

GHAZNI CITY/ JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Three people have been killed and 13 others injured as a result of two separate traffic accidents in eastern Nangarhar and southern Ghazni province, officials said on Thursday.

Ghazni police spokesman Abu Khalid Sarhadi told Pajhwok Afghan News a collision took place between four vehicles in Nanai area of Andar district on the Kabul-Kandahar highway today (morning).

He said one individual was killed and 11 others were injured in the pileup.

According to Sarhadi, security forces reached to the scene and evacuated the injured to hospital.

Since yesterday, seven accidents occurred due to icy conditions following snowfall in the province.

Ghazni officials explained that eight vehicles have been stuck on icy roads, but there was no report about casualties.

Separately, a traffic accident happened after a car veered off the road and overturned in Hazarnaw area of Momandara district on the Jalalabad-Torkham highway, Nangarhar police spokesman Syed Taib Hamad told Pajhwok.

The accident left two people killed and two women injured, he added.

Hamad said the injured women were shifted to a local hospital for treatment.

The reason behind the accident was said be high speed.
