KABUL (Pajhwok): Acting Minister of Public Health Maulvi Noor Jalal Jalali has urged the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to support Afghanistan’s health sector.
He issued the call at a meeting with OIC representatives in Kabul today (Saturday), the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) said.
A statement from ministry said the two sides discussed various issues, including equipping health centres, capacity building programmes for Afghan medical personnel.
Cooperation in treating drug addicts and cancer patients and encouraging member states to contribute to Afghanistan’s health sector also came up for discussion.
Jalali underscored the importance of OIC’s collaboration at strengthening and expanding the country’s healthcare system.
He urged the Islamic bloc to provide assistance across the health sector and encouraged its member states to enhance bilateral cooperation.
The OIC representatives reaffirmed their full support and commitment to Afghanistan’s health sector, alongside other areas, the statement concluded.
