KABUL (Pajhwok): Government has announced the plantation of 16 million fruits and non-fruit saplings nationwide in the next solar year.
Mawlavi Abdul Ahad Khalil, head of the Natural Resources Department at the Ministry of Agriculture, said that in the coming year 16 million fruit and non-fruit sapling would be planted nationwide.
He said that the campaign should be started in many other provinces as well.
Mawlavi Abdul Ahad said added that 160 million trees will be planted in 200 acres of land in the next five years.
He added that in the next ten years, 160 million saplings will be planted across 200,000 acres of land across the country.
He said that in the past three years, pistachio, walnut and pine saplings have been planted across thousands of acres of land across the country.
Also, in this meeting, Mullah Aghajan Akhund (Haji Salem), secretary finance and administration of the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation, said that the presence of saplings and forests was important for the life of humans in addition to the beauty of nature.
He urged the people to cooperate with the Ministry of Agriculture in planting saplings.
Similarly, a sapling planting campaign was launched in Samangan province today (sunday) in cooperation with the Departments of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock.
Mufti Hedayatullah Walid, Director of Samangan Province's Department of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock, told a gathering that 280,000 different types of saplings will be planted in the province this year.
He urged the people of the province to cooperate with the department in the plantation of saplings.
It is worth noting that sapling plantation campaigns are held in the provinces in addition to Kabul every year in the month of March.
