18 people sentenced to jail terms, lashes in Khost

KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): The City Primary Court has sentenced 18 people to jail terms and lashes for various offenses in southeastern Khost province, the court said in a statement on Monday.

In a statement, Governor’s Office wrote based on the decision of City Primary Court’s Criminal Division, four people were sentenced to jail terms yesterday for sodomy and 14 people, including four women, were sentenced to prison terms for illicit relations.

It said the Criminal Court sentenced these individuals from one to seven years of mandatory imprisonment and 39 lashes each.

The general director of Khost Court Appeals, head of primary court, judges, administrative and military personnel and some ordinary people attended the hearing, the report explained.

The verdicts were implemented after approval of the Supreme Court, the statement added.
