KABUL (Pajhwok): The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) plans to to open a carpet-weaving centre in Kabul in the near future.
Dr. Muhammad Saeed Al-Ayash, director of the OIC Office in Afghanistan, announced the plan at a meeting with the labor and social affairs minister in Kabul.
In a statement the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs (MoLSA) said Minister Mullah Abdul Manan Omari met Dr. Ayash and the delegation accompanying him.
Omari hailed the activities and efforts made by the largest Islamic bloc. He requested OIC to help the needy and vulnerable Afghans.
Al-Ayash said: “We have some carpet-weaving programmes for female prisoners in Afghanistan. We further plan to expand this initiative through opening a carpet-weaving centre in Kabul…”
Dr. Atash said the plan reflected the identity of Afghan society. He affirmed OIC’s commitment to expanding its assistance to Afghanistan.
The acting minister expressed his satisfaction with the OIC plan to set up a carpet-weaving centre and requested greater cooperation from the organisation.
