KABUL (Pajhwok): A business meeting between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan has been held in Termez, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) said on Sunday.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Commerce Nooruddin Azizi and Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov, a statement from the MoCI said.
The discussions centred on significant topics, including Uzbekistan’s investments in various sectors of Afghanistan’s economy, such as the establishment of an economic-commercial complex in the port city of Hairatan.
The meeting also focused on food production and processing, poultry farming, pharmaceutical industries, cement production and building materials.
Horticulture and the processing of vegetables and fruits, with an initial investment of over 200 million dollars in the provinces of Balkh, Samangan and Kunduz also came up for discussion.
The ministry added the talks also covered organising a exhibition in Termez with the participation of regional countries, establishing trade houses in both countries, customs cooperation, product standardisation, agricultural link and related topics.
Azizi, Kudratov, and their delegations also visited the dedicated area for the economic-commercial complex.
