Riyadh supports efforts for ending Ukraine war

KABUL (Pajhwok): Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has met Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman in Jeddah, a media report said on Tuesday.

According to the Reuters news agency the leaders of the two countries met on Monday.

The Saudi crown prince emphasised his country's support for international efforts to resolve the Ukrainian crisis and achieve peace.

The two sides discussed efforts for putting an end to the war in Ukraine.

The US Department of State also said Secretary of State Marko Rubio had arrived in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

It added Rubio would meet Ukrainian officials in Jeddah on March 10-12 to advance President Trump's goal of ending the Russia-Ukraine war.

Meanwhile, Zelensky said he would not participate in Tuesday's talks with US officials in the oil-rich kingdom.

A Ukrainian delegation including the ministers of defence and foreign affairs, the chief of army staff and another senior military official, will take part in the meeting.
