PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Five paramilitary troops were killed and a dozen others wounded in a bomb attack in Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan province on Sunday.
Officials said the Frontier Corps (FC) personnel suffered the casualties in an explosion near their convoy in Noshki area on the national highway.
The blast was a suicide attack, local police officer Zafarullah Sumalani said, citing preliminary investigations.
Dawn quoted Sumalani as saying that evidence from the scene of the bombing suggested a suicide attacker ploughed an explosives-laden vehicle into the FC convoy.
The injured were evacuated to the FC Camp and Noshki Teaching Hospital, where an emergency has been imposed.
The death toll could rise because several people were in critical condition, the police officer feared.
The explosion comes days after a major terrorist attack on a passenger train by the Balochistan Liberation Army in the Bolan district of the province.
