KABUL (Pajhwok): Decisive airstrikes are ongoing in compliance with his orders against Houthi fighters in Yemen, US President Donald Trump says.
In the air blitz, the Houthi-run health ministry said, at least 23 people were killed and more than 20 others injured on Saturday.
CNN quoted Trump as blasting the group for waging “an unrelenting campaign of piracy, violence and terrorism against American and other, ships, aircraft and drones.”
In a post on Truth Social, Trump pledged the US would use “overwhelming lethal force” against the Houthis “until we have achieved our objective”.
Aerial attacks on were being conducted on Houthi bases, leaders and missile defenses to protect American shipping, air and naval assets, the US president wrote.
He added: “No terrorist force will stop American commercial and naval vessels from freely sailing the Waterways of the World.”
In a stark warning to Iran, Trump said it must “immediately” end support for the rebel outfit. If Iran threatened the Americans, he warned, “America will hold you fully accountable and, we won’t be nice about it!”
Anees Alasbahi, spokesperson for the health, denounced the US aggression as a criminal escalation that would not break the will of the Yemeni people.
