KABUL (Pajhwok): The United States has asked Iran to put an immediate stop to sending military supplies to Houthi rebels in Yemen, reports CNN.
President Donald Trump claimed Iran was still sending large levels of supplies to the Yemeni militants. Iran must stop sending these supplies, he stressed.
He also cited reports that the Islamic republic had reduced its intensity on military equipment and general support to the Houthis.
“Let the Houthis fight it out themselves,” Trump said, adding: “Either way they lose, but this way they lose quickly. Tremendous damage has been inflicted upon the Houthis and watch how it will get progressively worse — It’s not even a fair fight, and never will be. They will be completely annihilated!”
In fresh attacks across Yemen, the US military has pounded targets in Saada province, where Houthi leaders are said to be hiding, and the Red Sea port city of Hodeidah.
Citing Houthi-run Al Masirah TV, Reuters reported more than 10 strikes on different locations, including the Al-Safra district of Saada.
The news agency said the area — housing weapons storage and training sites — was seen as one of the group’s most heavily fortified military strongholds.
