KABUL (Pajhwok): The fifth edition of the Mirwais Neka tournament, featuring five regional teams, will kick off on April 5, the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) announced on Sunday.
The three-day tournament will follow in a round-robin format across two venues in eastern Nangarhar province, the board said in a statement.
It added a total of 10 matches had been scheduled, with the event running from April 5 to April 23.
Mis-i-Ainak, Band-i-Amir, Amo, Bost and Speen Ghar will face each other once during the round-robin stage.
Top-performing players from the recently concluded Provincial Grade-II and Grade-I tournaments, as well as contracted red-ball domestic cricketers, have been selected for the event.
The contest is the third of several domestic competitions planned for the year and will be followed by Afghanistan’s premier red-ball event, the Ahmad Shah Abdali First-Class Tournament, in May.
