BAMYAN CITY (Pajhwok): Ramadan Futsal Cup featuring 19 teams that began two weeks ago has concluded in central Bamyan province, the VIP team winning the championship.
Head of Bamyan Football Federation Mohammad Azim Sadaat told Pajhwok Afghan News that the Futsal Cup was launched two weeks ago in Bamyan city and ended with the victory of the VIP team on Sunday.
He said the event was organized by the Football Federation in cooperation with the Physical Education Department, and the Bright Star team was able to finish runners-up.
The competition was aimed at promoting futsal, encouraging youth to play sports and creating greater unity between athletes, Saadat added.
In these competitions, Mohammad Jan from the Bright Star team was selected as the top scorer, Javad Saqi from the same team as the best goalkeeper, and Vahid Seif from the VIP team as the best player.
The athletes welcomed these programs and asked for more support from the authorities.
Alijan Ahmadi, a player, said holding these competitions will increase young people’s interest in sports and strengthen unity and empathy among them.
He also complained about lack of sports facilities and urged officials to do more to support athletes.
